Dan Evans on post-match incident with Kyle Edmund: We are all good now

Top-ranked British tennis player Dan Evans claims it's all good between him and 2018 Australian Open semifinalist Kyle Edmund as the went out for a dinner just hours after clashing on the court. 

Evans, ranked at No. 28 in the world, handed a straight-set loss to Edmund 6-4 6-4 when they met on Wednesday at this week's edition of The Battle of the Brits. 

After the match was over, Edmund appeared to aggressively bang rackets with Evans and the world No. 28 wasn't happy at all with the reaction so he told the 25-year-old to "be careful."

Evans and Edmund are know to have a good relationship and the incident came as a surprise.

"don't know if he meant to hit my racket but we spoke and it's perfectly fine," Evans said, as quoted on Sportsmail. "I'm good friends with his coach and I'm good friends with 'Keds' so it would be pretty awkward if we weren't talking."

Evans and former world No. 44 Edmund have been Davis Cup teammates for several years now and a damaged relationship between the two wouldn't do any favors to the British Davis Cup team.

"We had dinner together last night, we genuinely didn't (fall out). It doesn't matter if it's my best friend down the other end. If you're angry you do things you shouldn't do. Everyone is pushing each other's buttons on the side so people just lose it a little bit," Evans added.

Evans insists every player gives its maximum 

The Battle of the Brits features only British players, who want to get some matches under their belt ahead of the season restart scheduled for August. 

The incident from the Evans and Edmund match suggests that players are taking the event seriously and everyone wants to win.

"I keep hearing it's an exhibition but it's not, everyone is taking it seriously and we are getting the full throttle of competitive matches. If we just wanted to play we'd play some matches outdoors some sets but this is top quality stuff," Evans claimed.

Evans claimed the first break of the match in the seventh game, before he converted the second set points on his serve in the 10th game.

The same scenario happened in the second set as Evans earned the break in the seventh game and served out for the set in the 10th game.
