Tennis - Spanish tennis legend Rafael Nadal is known to be a big sports fan - he is an avid golfer and is also a keen follower of football.

Noe it has been revealed that Nadal sent a video message to the Sevilla football club prior to the Europa League final.

Julen Lopetegui, the former Spanish footballer and the current manager of Sevilla FC, asked the Spanish tennis champion for a favour prior to the final against Inter Milan.

The Spaniard was happy to oblige and recorded the video for the football club in which he sent an inspiring message to the club players and urged them to achieve their goals.

As per the Spanish daily Marca, Nadal says in the message, "I want to congratulate you on the great season you're having. You have given a great example of overcoming [obstacles] and believing in every sense all season..

The last push remains an effort that's worth it.. It's a very tough final but the first thing you can do is to go out and enjoy it knowing that you've achieved all your main objectives..

That will give you confidence and a clear head. You're more than ready to fight for it... In finals, there are difficult moments, but from the certainty and knowing that there's a chance until the end, you'll be able to achieve your goal."

It seems the message from Nadal did play its part as Sevilla won the tournament for a record sixth time with a 3-2 win over Inter Milan in a thrilling final in Cologne.

The win continued an excellent run for the club. It was a first trophy in the managerial career of Lopetegui, whose side are now unbeaten since February, a total run of 21 games.

During a recent chat with his fans, Nadal was asked about his football skills and he responded. "Football, I'm very bad at it today. I used to play football for a team here as a 14-year-old. I was okay, not bad. But now, honestly I am not able to play football, I am either bad or very bad at it."

Rafael Nadal is currently in Spain where he is training. He has decided not to travel to New York for the US Open event due to concerns about the global pandemic.
