Cristian Garin invests in All Knights team in the League of Legends

Chilean tennis player Cristian Garín has made an investment in All Knights, a successful Chilean team in Latin America in the League of Legends.

League of Legends is a multiplayer online battle arena video game developed and published by Riot Games for Microsoft Windows and macOS.

The game's popularity has led it to expand into merchandise, with toys, accessories, and apparel, as well as additional tie-ins to other media through music videos, web series, and documentaries.

In North America and Europe, Riot Games organizes the League Championship Series (LCS), located in Los Angeles and the League of Legends European Championship (LEC), located in Berlin, respectively, each of which consist of 10 professional teams.

These competitions culminate with the annual World Championship. The 2019 League of Legends World Championship had over 100 million unique viewers and a minimum prize pool of US$2.5 million.

According to the Tuttosport website, Garin says, "Video games have always accompanied me during the breaks between games or during my travels. My goal now is that All Knights continues to grow and improve; it's a great project and expectations are to win but we know that triumphs do not come overnight, they involve a lot of work, sacrifice and the involvement of people who want to grow the project."

Felipe Rossi , CEO of All Knights, also spoke about the partnership and said that the relationship with Garin had started during the quarantine. "With Cristian as a partner of All Knights, in my opinion it is the demonstration that we are no longer just talking about a computer game, and this is the confirmation of how much the competitive level of the championship has risen.Garin returns to the tennis circuit this week at the Western & Southern Open in New York where he meets a qualifier in the first round and could meet American Taylor Fritz in the second round.

He also reached the second round of the Australian Open in January this year and has reached the second round at the French Open and US Open in 2019.

Cristian Garín is ranked a career high No. 18 in the world rankings currently. He has won four ATP tour titles, all coming on clay, so far. This year, he won his third title in early 2020, at the 2020 Córdoba Open and followed it up with his first ATP Tour 500 title at the 2020 Rio Open. He is the sixth player from Chile to be ranked in the world's Top 20 rankings. In the juniors, Garin won the 2013 Junior French Open, beating Alexander Zverev in the final.
