Roland Garros: when Roger Federer got the Career Grand Slam

The organization of the Roland Garros 2020 has long been troubled because of the global Covid-19 pandemic that has plagued the world, and France severely, also in these days of September, with many infections. This year between safety protocols and very important absences, such as that of Roger Federer the Parisian Slam will experience one of the most atypical seasons of its long history: for the first time it will be played not in lat spring but at the gates of autumn .

Roger Federer's victory at the 2009 Roland Garros will forever remain one of the most important points in the history of tennis. Although Rafael Nadal was the favorite for the final victory, the Spaniard was surprisingly defeated by Robin Soderling in the fourth round. Federer faced Soderling in the final, winning in straight sets 6-1, 7-6 (1), 6-4. Thanks to that victory, Roger crowned the much-dreamed of Career Grand Slam, he got and his first and only Roland Garros title and he equaled Pete Sampras' record of 14 Slam, a record number at that time.
