Ladies Italian Open, twenty-fifth edition begins

At the Ladies Italian Open to dispel a taboo and celebrate the first success of an Italian in the most important trophy of Italian golf. In history, the Italians have obtained 4 second places: in addition to those of Sergas and Zorzi there are also those (in 2000 and 2002) of Silvia Cavalleri (absent this year). To make the big voice, in the history of the tournament, also and above all the English with 7 successes (4 of which, absolute record of the tournament, signed by Laura Davies, timeless champion) in front of Spain (4) and Australia (3). And to defend the title will be a British player, Florentyna Parker, champion in 2014.

Among the past winners here are the Norwegian Marianne Skarpnord (who scored in 2009) and another English one, Trish Johnson (champion in 2007). Among the favorites for the title, the Australian Stephanie Kyriacou, the British Alice Hewson and the Welsh Amy Boulden.

At the Ladies Italian Open with an eye also to the Olympics. The tournament will be an important viaticum for qualifying for the Tokyo Games which will end on June 28th. And in this case it will be the blue derby with Giulia Molinaro (who represented Italy, together with Sergas, in Rio de Janeiro 2016) and Lucrezia Colombotto Rosso from Turin among the most accredited for a place in Japan.
