Marius Copil could've defeated Roger Federer in straight-sets: Ilie Nastase

The former world no. 1 Ilie Nastase believes Marius Copil could have done a better job at the Swiss Indoors in Basel in October. Copil definitely had an amazing week reaching the final after coming through the qualifying round, but he then ended the match against Roger Federer with some regrets having lost 7-6, 6-4. 'Marius Copil is very good now, especially considering his performance and good match against Federer, which is not a granted thing. If he was more careful, he would have been able to win the final in straight sets,' said Nastase, as quoted by DigiSport.

Nastase also commented on Halep being coachless at the start of the 2019 season: 'I do not know whom to choose, Simona knows best. I said that she does not need a coach. I think that when you are the world number one you do not need a coach. You may organize your training and schedule, but in tennis Simona knows what to do. If I coached her, I would have got fines, argued with umpires, gotten angry. But she knows how to play tennis, she does not need it.'

Simona Halep is a fan of Roger Federer. In an interview, praising Federer for winning his 20th Grand Slam title at the 2018 Australian Open, Halep said: 'I admire him for being so calm, when he could be nervous and angry. I am completely conquered from it. The way of being calm and to handle every moment... It fascinates me.'
