Anett Kontaveit: I’m satisfied with the result

Following a straight sets victory over Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo, Anett Kontaveit reached the Second Round of the Australian Open.

Though the scoreline of the match was 6-3, 6-2, there were a lot of nervous moments in the match.

'It was a little but of a nervy game, being the first grand slam of the year,'' Kontaveit said to Estonian journalists after the match.

''In general, however, I'm satisfied with the result – a win is a win, and this with such a solid score,'' she continued.

''The plan was to attack my opponent's backhand and playing via her backhand, I could focus on my own things. Bearing in mind the temperature was 35 degrees with no wind, I think I did well – fortunately the game wasn't too long, a little over an hour I think,'' she continued.

The 23 year old, who has been ranked in the Top20 of the WTA Charts next faces Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich for a place in the Third Round of the First Grand Slam of the Year.

Sasnovich comes into this clash following an impressive display against Belgian Kirsten Flipkens in straight sets. Kontaveit holds a slender edge over her opponent in terms of their head to head clashes, leading it 4-3.

She has been in impressive form, losing in the quarterfinals of the Brisbane International, which included an impressive win over Petra Kvitova followed by a Round of 16 appearance at the Sydney International.

She has won 1 WTA Title in her career and has a career win-loss record of 266-138 in her young career.
