Caroline Wozniacki Named Tennis Player of 2018 by Danish Tennis Federation
Tennis - World No. 3 Caroline Wozniacki has been named Tennis Player of the Year 2018 by the Danish Tennis Federation, winning the prize for the 11th time. The Danish star won the first Grand Slam of her career at the Australian Open in 2018
Chairman Henrik Thorsøe Pedersen from the Danish Tennis Federation commented on a press release, "Caroline deserves all the honour she receives. Even after all the years at the top, she delivers her probably best year ever in 2018 with the fantastic victory in the Australian Open. We are very proud to have Caroline as an ambassador for Danish tennis."
Wozniacki commented on the news saying she was happy to be recognised for her achievements, "It is a bit wild to think that this is the 11th time I have won this year's Tennis Player. But it is always great to be recognized for its achievements."
Wozniacki has won the prize every year since 2007 with the exception of 2012 when Frederik Løchte Nielsen was voted Tennis Player of the Year.
The jury consisted of Danish sports journalists, who had to choose between Wozniacki, Frederik Løchte and the Danish Fed Cup women's team.
Wozniacki started her season in Auckland this week at the ASB Classic where she lost to Bianca Andreescu in the second round on Thursday.
