Nicolas Mahut wants to win Olympic Gold with Pierre-Hugues Herbert

France's Nicolas Mahut won't retire anytime soon as he wants to achieve more doubles success with his good friend Pierre-Hugues Herbert.

Mahut, 37, and 27-year-old Herbert completed a Career Grand Slam at Melbourne Park after beating No. 12 seeds Henri Kontinen and John Peers in the final 6-4 7-6 (1).

Mahut and Herbert have been regular doubles partners since 2015.

They won it all at the US Open in 2015, Wimbledon in 2016 and the French Open last year.

Mahut and Herbert still lack an Olympic Gold and Nitto ATP Finals title.

The Frenchmen fell just short of winning it all at The O2 Arena last year as they runners-up in the final to USA's Mike Bryan and Jack Sock.

Herbert and Mahut hoped to make a splash at the 2016 Rio Olympics but got beaten in their opening round clash.

"We have so many things to achieve. If you remember well, in 2016 in Rio, we didn't play that good, so I still have this in mind so I won't think about retirement until after the next Olympics," Mahut said post-match, per the Australian Open website.

"So you can wait at least one more year, and then of course at the end of my career, at least, I could say that we won all four slams. But I don't want to quit."

Mahut and Herbert fell just short of landing their maiden Grand Slam team title at Melbourne Park four years ago as they were beaten in 2015 final by Italy's Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini.

"What to say, Nico? We started off here in 2015 – our first tournament together, and we went all the way to the final. We missed the title by one match, but we did not know at that time if we would be in a final again. And now we’ve won all the Grand Slams together," Herbert said post-match.

"I don't know what to say. Thank you for sharing the court with me. I've had so much fun with you."
