We invited Roger Federer to play in Estoril again, says tournament director
Roger Federer may comeback to the Estoril Open, that takes place from 29 April to 5 May 2019. The Swiss last played there in 2010 and on Sunday, just after hearing that the 37-year-old will play the French Open again, the Portoguese tournament shared a tweet inviting Federer to come there. In an interview, the Tournament Director Joao Zilhao said: 'It's just an invitation we sent to Roger to prepare the Roland Garros in a good way here at the Estoril. We know he would like to play more on clay and we would be here to receive him. He is very close to Portugal and our tournament is amazing for clay-court lovers. Players who came here loved it.'
Stefanos Tsitsipas and Alex De Minaur will play in Estoril, as well as the local hero Joao Sousa. 'We have other players, great names who we will announce when it's the right time. At the moment we have just these two players, but in the next weeks, we will announce other names. I can say that we have a great field for the 2019', concluded Zilhao.
