Roger Federer: 'Happy I am still walking, I played so much tennis'

Roger Federer feels proud and grateful for his great longevity. The Swiss player just won his 100th career-title in Dubai and in an on-court interview following his win over Stan Wawrinka in Indian Wells, he said: “It’s fun and I’m injury-free and in no pain. It’s a special night. I’m happy I’m still walking because that’s a lot of tennis."

Federer added: “Yes, it is pretty amazing. Something that started back in 2001. I’m just happy to be walking.”

On his rivalry with his compatriot Stan Wawrinka, Federer added: "In all honesty, I don't feel like I have dominated him on the hard courts. He had a set and a break against me in Stockholm. He should have beaten me in London. On grass, he was a big threat for me at Wimbledon one year. Australian Open was five sets. Cincy, he could have gotten me. There is a lot of matches there. Somehow I was able to squeeze those out. You know, he also crushed me at the French and in Monaco. So it doesn't mean much to me that record, to be honest."

The former world No. 12 singles player Paolo Bertolucci believes that Novak Djokovic should not get worried about his straight-set loss to Philipp Kohlschreiber in Indian Wells. Speaking on Sky Sport, the Italian pundit said: "It happens in single sports where the coach cannot replace the player. A very bad day. Throughout the year there can be some losses, hoping that there is no issue. But he played doubles later so I think it's all good."

On Djokovic's choice to play doubles with Fabio Fognini, Bertolucci added: "In Indian Wells, many top players, compared to other tournaments, play doubles as well because they have not been competing for a while. Rafael Nadal won it twice and Roger Federer paired up with Stan Wawrinka. Now Novak will be motivated to go even further in doubles. In doubles, everything can happen, at the best of three sets and a ten-point third set tie-break."
