Rafael Nadal prefers to play on dry clay court, says Mats Wilander

In an interview, the seven-time Grand Slam winner Mats Wilander commented on how the weather can play a factor in the Majors. The Swede said: "Comparing the other Grand Slams with the French Open, we see that the weather is a very big factor here. The weather can change many things. For example, Rafael Nadal prefers to play in the day and on a dry court, but it also depends on who he faces. If you play against strong names like Karen Khachanov or Dominic Thiem, you will want a dry court. I do not know what weather he would want against Novak Djokovic. Novak's forehand works better when it's dry. The backhand is better on a wet and heavy court because he hits slow and low and he does not want the ball to go too far."

On Caroline Wozniacki dealing with rheumatoid arthritis, Kim Clijsters: "I don't know how much the problems affect her. She worked so hard to win her grand slam, and when that happens, you always feel a little bit of relief, and perhaps your focus and your discipline can take a little dive. It was still one of my favourite moments to see her win the Australian Open with knowing all, she had to go through criticism for being number one without a grand slam. It was great to see her succeed after humbly having worked so hard to keep giving herself the chance. I feel she is still able to play at a high level. Her chances are better on hardcourt, but she definitely has the chance to win a grand slam on any surface. But it must be difficult for her because with her style of play and with the way she wants to move, she is not one who plays many short points and short matches. She plays many long rallies, so she has to be fit to win them. Therefore, I can imagine her frustrations. On the other hand, I can imagine that so many good things are happening in her life outside the court with her fiancé David, that she should not always think of tennis, and I am very happy on her behalf for having it."
