Andy Murray believes he can return to his old level
Former world No. 1 Andy Murray has suggested that he believes he can return to his old level.
Murray, 32, underwent a successful hip resurfacing surgery in January following his first round loss at the Australian Open.
Murray returned to action six months later at the Queen's Club, where he won the doubles title alongside Spain's Feliciano Lopez.
The Briton then also played doubles in Eastbourne, before he played both men's and mixed doubles at Wimbledon.
Murray is now set to play doubles with his brother Jamie Murray at this week's Citi Open in Washington.
Murray, a three-time Grand Slam champion and back-to-back Olympic champion, hopes to return to singles before this season ends.
Per Kelyn Soong of the Washington City Paper, Murray said ahead of his Washington doubles opener: "Now just not being in pain, it’s amazing what that will do to you...The question I sort of ask, why not, why should I not being able to get back to where I was. There’s no good reason. It just takes time for muscles to recover. Once they’re healed...Why shouldn’t I be able to?”
The Murray brothers have been handed a tough draw as they are set to open their Washington campaign against Wimbledon runners-up Nicolas Mahut and Edouard Roger-Vasselin.
