World No. 162 Alex Bolt insists he is satisfied with where he is at despite failing to add more notable results on the biggest stage after reaching the third round at the Australian Open in January.
The 26-year-old made a promising start to his season, having stunned Jack Sock and Gilles Simon at Melbourne Park to make his maiden third round at a Grand Slam event and achieve a career-high ranking of No. 125 in the world.
The Australian was certainly aiming to have a breakthrough year and enter the top-100 but since his Australian Open his best result at the ATP level was the second round finish at the Indian Wells Masters.
"There’s been a lot of ups and downs but overall, I’m pretty happy with where I’m at,” Bolt told Tennis Australia. “I’ve consolidated my spot for Aussie Open quallies so I can’t be too disappointed with how the year’s gone.
“I proved to myself that I can win matches again those top guys at the start of the year, so that’s given me the world of confidence that I know I can take it to them."
When on the court, Bolt isn't afraid to.fo for his shots and be aggressive as he claimed: "I’m the type of player that will live and die by the sword. Sometimes it comes off, sometimes it doesn’t, that’s the game style I try to bring, and if I’m up and firing, I can take it to anyone."
