Tim Henman to captain Great Britain at ATP Cup
Former world No. 4 Tim Henman will captain Great Britain at the inaugural ATP Cup, as exclusively revealed by Sportsmail.
Since retiring from professional tennis in 2007, Henman hasn't had any coaching stints on the Tour but he has remained close to the game through his punditry work.
Per Sportsmail sources, three-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray suggested Henman and after consulting, British team members made him the captain.
Former 11-time ATP champion Henman traveled to the Paris Masters last week, where he went out to a dinner with several British male tennis players.
As noted on the Sportsmail, the 45-year-old met with promising Kyle Edmund and doubles specialist Jamie Murray "to get them know better and discuss the new event."
The inaugural edition of the ATP Cup will be held between 3 and 12 January across three Australian cities.
Great Britain will play its matches in Sydney as a five-man squad -- led by former world No. 1 Murray -- will be aiming to make a splash at the event's inaugural edition.
The official confirmation of Henman leading Great Britain at the ATP Cup is expected to come next week.
