“Just happy to be through,” says Plíšková as she blasts through Siegemund

Karolína Plíšková, the Former world No. 1, 27-year-old Czeck, turned out to be a self-critic following her strong performance in the second round of ’20 AO, while she had dispatched the 31-year-old German tough-nut Laura Siegemund in straight sets.

Meanwhile, following a convincing 6-3, 6-3 win over the German in the second round of ’20 AO second-round match, self-criticizing her performance, the 27-year old unsatisfied Czeck, Plíšková, much-known for an extremely aggressive style of play and often defined by her precise and powerful serves alongside accurate net play, said in a post-match press conference on Thursday (January 23rd), “I'm not sure if it was really nice tennis today. I think she has a very ugly game for me, so I'm never going to feel amazing playing her. I'm just happy to be through because this was an ugly match for me. Last time we played was on clay, and I think she's more difficult on that surface, so I'm just happy I'm through and hopefully I can feel better in my next round.”

Besides, after Thursday’s (January 23rd) triumph, the second Seed, Karolína Plíšková, would take on the 30th Seed, 28-year-old Russian shieldmaiden, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, in the third-round of ’20 AO on Saturday (January 25th).
