Novak Djokovic: If I could, I would make some changes to calendar
Serbian tennis superstar Novak Djokovic says if he could change one thing in tennis that would be the calendar.
"The calendar, I would schedule tournaments a bit differently," Djokovic said, when asked by Sport Klub one thing he would change in tennis if he could. "Firstly, I would give players more time to rest.
"I don't see a point in such a big gap between the Australian Open and Roland Garros, I would schedule Melbourne probably for somewhere in March and I would leave two or two and a half months without a tournament. Also, I would schedule the Grand Slams so Roland Garros, Wimbledon and the US Open are not scheduled too close to each other."
Djokovic, a 17-time Grand Slam champion, claims throwing rackets isn't something he loves as each time he has regretted doing that.
"Honestly, I regret when I smash the racket on the court. I'm trying to avoid that but sometimes I get carried away and that happens -- then I feel remorse. I try to forgive myself for that -- because we are all humans and we all make mistakes," Djokovic said.
"Some people would say it helps and wakes up me up but I'm not a fan of that. I'm aware that's not the best example for the young ones who are watching and I feel a bit bad."
Djokovic, ranked at No. 1 in the world, made a stunning start to this season as he won 18 straight matches and claimed three consecutive titles.
