Roger Federer's four children are interested in the Foundation, says CEO

Roger Federer has been active in charity for many years. In a chat to Tennis World USA, the CEO of the Roger Federer Foundation, Janine Händel commented on how fatherhood changed Federer as a philanthropist. The Basel native and his wife Mirka became parents to two daughters, Myla and Charlene, in 2009 and then to two boys, Leo and Lenny, in 2014. Händel believes that becoming a father played a big role in Roger giving bigger importance on early education to children. 'He could see everyday the huge developments of children, how fast they are improving,' said Händel.

Could Federer's children join in to help with the foundation, too? 'That would be great,' Händel admitted. 'Informally, they are already part of the Foundation. They are very interested in what we are doing, they ask me questions about our work. When Roger is in Africa, of course they see the pictures, they have a huge identification with the Foundation, even if they are small (young).'

By the end of this year the Foundation will have invested $44 million on their programmes, building schools, educating children and allowing them to have a better life every day in a safe environment. Federer will open his 2019 season at the Hopman Cup.
