Roger Federer is the third best clay-court player, says Guy Forget

Guy Forget believes that Roger Federer can go far at the French Open this year. In an interview to L'Equipe, the Tournament Director said: 'When you build your schedule, you always have to find a kind of balance. Sometimes you play too much and you are tired or injured. When you are experienced and you have all these years in your legs, you look for the right balance between too much and not enough. The first year, when Roger said he would not come (to the French Open), he laughed so much (won 2017 Wimbledon), he said it was the magical receipt. And the year after, it didn't work. Now, for me, he is looking for the right balance. And he wants to give himself a chance to play well at the French Open. And honestly, seeing him play, I think that behind Rafa, and maybe Novak, he is the third best clay-court player today.'

Will Forget wait for Federer's arrival to really believe at his comeback in the tournament? 'I think that he will really come. In the past he was afraid that his fitness condition would not allow him to play many matches, so now I think he feels confident in playing well on clay.'

Federer won the 2009 French Open title defeating Robin Soderling in a straight-set final to achieve the Career Grand Slam. That year Rafael Nadal lost just to Soderling in the fourth round.
