ATP Race: Novak Djokovic moves in front of Rafael Nadal. Federer is third

Back in June, Rafael Nadal became the leader of the ATP Race after he had won the title at Roland Garros, moving 800 points clear of Novak Djokovic who had the edge in the first five months of the season. Five weeks later, Novak Djokovic is back at the top, conquering the fifth Wimbledon crown on Sunday and forging 500-point lead in front of Nadal who had lost in the semi-final at the All England Club, with both players punching the ATP Finals tickets after their Wimbledon runs. Djokovic currently stands on 6725 points, 500 more than Nadal and almost 1700 ahead of Roger Federer whom he beat in Wimbledon final after saving two match points in the longest title match at the most prestigious Major tournament. At the age of almost 38, Federer is still capable of dealing with the best-ranked players in the world, ousting Rafael Nadal in the semi-final and squandering a massive opportunity to do the same against Novak and lift the ninth Wimbledon trophy.

Roger is the third player with over 5000 points in 2019 and is pretty much safe for London, with 1700 points advantage over Dominic Thiem who suffered an early Wimbledon loss. Stefanos Tsitsipas remained fifth after a short Wimbledon campaign, 900 points in front of the quarter-finalist Kei Nishikori who is the first player who gained the position on the list. After the first Grand Slam semi-final, Roberto Bautista Agut made a big jump to find himself in the top-8 and becoming a London contender, 125 points ahead of Daniil Medvedev who lost two spots in these two weeks.

Fabio Fognini, Alexander Zverev and Felix Auger-Aliassime were unable to reach the second week at Wimbledon and earn more points in the battle for London, with Matteo Berrettini standing 12 after four incredible weeks on grass and 11 victories at three events. Guido Pella and David Goffin reached the quarter-final to gain seven spots and enter the top-15, leaving the players like Stan Wawrinka, Milos Raonic, Borna Coric and John Isner behind them and making the race towards the ATP Finals even more impressive in the months to come.
