Jo-Wilfried Tsonga shows that age is just a number. Maybe...

In a recent interview, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga said he felt stronger than ever from the mental point of view. But his psychological solidity and tenacity have never been questioned. The most serious problem of his sporting life was injuries, which have partly affected his career.
Yet today, at 34 years-old, Tsonga is showing that age is just a number and that his strength is always that of the good times, at least when his body remains healthy. Considering all the injuries that compromised his 2018 and the slow and gradual return, the Frenchman managed to carve out an important role this season, winning two titles, in February in Montpellier and in September in Metz.
In between, there were physical problems, unpredictable defeats and excellent performances. An example: if Alexander Zverev or Stefanos Tsitsipas had the same French tenacity, then the Big Three should start looking from them.
Currently, it is practically impossible for Tsonga to win a Major, as it is for all the other tennis players who do not respond to the name of Djokovic, Nadal or Federer. But among his countrymen, he is certainly the only one able to aspire to such a goal, and this is a fact that he shoed throughout his career.
With 18 titles in 30 finals played, now Tsonga will have to think about what's left of his season and at his 2020. Needless to deny it: everything will depend on his physical shape. If he will be able to find the right physical continuity, then he could continue to win important tournaments and be a serious rival for all his opponents.
In the season's last few tournaments, there are always many chances to become the outsider able to win prestigious titles. In Asia, come the first tests. Then, we will head to the next season and its goals.
